Annual Theme 2026: “The King Is Coming Soon – Hope Beyond the End”

📖 Central Bible Text for the Day

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.”
2 Corinthians 3:18

🌅 Devotional for the Day

The three angels’ messages prepare not only a message for the world, but also a people for the return of Jesus. God does not merely want His children to know the truth. He wants that truth to change their hearts, shape their character, and make Christ visible in their lives.

The last generation will not be made great by human perfection, but by the grace of Christ. It will not stand by trusting in itself, but by keeping the faith of Jesus. Its character will not be produced by its own strength, but through a daily connection with the Lord who renews hearts.

Character is more than outward behavior. It reveals what has grown within. It becomes visible in our reactions when we are under pressure. It shows itself in our words when we are hurt. It is revealed in our decisions when no one is watching. In such moments, it becomes clear whether Christ is truly shaping our hearts.

The final message of grace needs people who not only explain what is right, but also live what is right. People whose patience, humility, purity, mercy, honesty, and faithfulness reflect something of the character of Jesus. The world should not only hear that Christ is coming soon. It should see in His people a foretaste of His kingdom.

God does not form this character in a single moment, but through a daily journey. Every day with Christ changes us. Every prayer opens the heart to His work. Every decision made in faith makes us stronger. Every trial can become a tool through which God leads us closer to Jesus. In this way, the Holy Spirit transforms God’s children from glory to glory.

Christ Is to Become Visible

The goal of the Christian life is not that people admire us, but that they recognize Christ. Our character should be like a mirror that does not point to itself, but reflects the glory of the Lord.

Ellen G. White wrote:

“Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church.”

(Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 69)

This statement reveals what God is working toward. He wants a people in whom the character of Jesus becomes visible: His love, patience, gentleness, truth, and faithfulness.

🌿 Transformation by Beholding

Paul writes that we are transformed as we behold the glory of the Lord. This means that we become like what we continually look at. Those who constantly look at themselves become discouraged or proud. Those who look at the world become restless. But those who look to Christ are changed.

Ellen G. White wrote:

“By beholding Christ, we become changed; His image is restored in the heart.”

(Steps to Christ, p. 72)

That is why daily fellowship with Jesus is so important. Character formation does not happen through mere effort, but through closeness. Christ shapes what we love. He cleanses what binds us. He strengthens what is weak. He makes our hearts new.

🕊️ A People for the Coming King

The last generation is called to remain faithful in a difficult time. Yet this faithfulness should not appear harsh or proud. It should reveal the spirit of Jesus. God’s people are to stand firmly in the truth while also being filled with love. They are to be clear, but not cold. Courageous, but not arrogant. Obedient, yet always dependent upon grace.

The character of the last generation is not formed through outward pressure, but through the quiet work of God in the heart. The crisis will reveal what has already been growing. Therefore, today is the day of preparation. Today God is shaping our thoughts, motives, habits, and love.

When Christ lives in us, the three angels’ messages become credible. Then we do not merely proclaim a coming King, but also reveal something of His character. And this is exactly God’s purpose: a people who are ready to meet Jesus because they are already living with Him today.

🙏 Prayer

Dear Father in Heaven,

shape my character according to the image of Jesus.

Help me not only to know Your truth, but also to make it visible in my life.

Transform my thoughts, words, motives, and decisions through Your Holy Spirit.

Protect me from pride, harshness, and self-reliance.

Let Christ become visible in me, so that my life may point to the coming King.

Amen.
